About Royce Simmons

A proud family man and community leader, Royce continues to inspire others through his honesty, resilience, and the annual Royce’s Big Walk

Royce Simmons, Panthers and Australian Rugby League Legend

A one-club man, Royce Simmons played 237 first-grade games for the Penrith Panthers, scoring 2 tries in the historic 1991 premiership game and 10 Tests for Australia. Just as devoted to his family, Royce is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. After receiving a diagnosis of early-onset dementia in 2021, Royce decided to take his dedication and resilience off the field and tackle dementia head on.

“When I was first diagnosed, for a few months I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Then I remembered the things that people are doing to support their charities and I thought to myself let’s try and make this into something positive.”
